Offer a job to your trades

This is a web task — do it from the Orvikon web portal. You need a project first: see Create your first project.

A job is a piece of work you send out to trades. You create it under a project, then offer it to the companies you want. The first one to accept wins it.

Only the company that owns the project can create top-level jobs. If you’re working on someone else’s project, you won’t see the New Job button — that’s expected.

Create the job

  1. Open your project (from Projects, click the project name or View Details).

  2. On the Jobs tab, click New Job (top right).

  3. Click Blank job….

(Saved job templates appear above this — pick one to pre-fill everything.)

  4. Fill in the Create a New Job window:

    • Job Title — required.
    • Description — what the work involves.
    • Trade Type — required. Pick the speciality from the grouped list.
    • MaterialsBuilder to Supply or Included in Fee.
      • For Issuer supplied materials, make sure the description includes where to pickup from or whether the materials will be delivered to site.
      • For Included materials include a list of items you expect them to provide in the job documents or in the description.
    • Allow the accepter to subcontract this job — leave off unless you’re happy for the trade to pass part of it on.
    • Estimated Duration (hours) - how long you think this will take. This is a scheduling convenience only not a hard limit.
    • Fee (entered ex GST) - how much they will be paid.
  5. Click Create Job. The job is saved as a draft, ready to offer.

You need a verified ABN before you can offer. If your company hasn’t added one, you’ll see a nudge at the top of the dialog — add it there. Drafting a job works without it; offering doesn’t.

Optional: add a checklist

On the new job’s page there’s a Checklist section. Add items here while the job is still a draft — the trade ticks them off on site, and you see the ticked list when they submit.

Offer it to your trades

  1. Open the job (click its title), or use the ⋮ Actions menu on the job’s row.
  2. Click Offer Job.
  3. In the Offer window, choose who to send it to:
    • Add preferred trades — your saved, trusted companies that can do this trade.
    • Add everyone eligible — every company that lists this trade in the project’s area.
    • Or pick companies individually from the list.
    • Show all companies widens the list to companies that haven’t listed this trade, if you need it.
    • Offer to my own company (internal job) keeps it in-house.
    • Stagger this offer releases it to companies one at a time, with a delay you set — good for giving your first-choice trade a head start.
  4. Check the Will be offered to preview, then click Offer Job.

The Offer Job button stays greyed out until the project has a location, the job has a trade type, and your company has a verified ABN. The button’s tooltip tells you which one is missing.

Whoever accepts first becomes the trade for the job, and you’ll see it move to Accepted on the project’s Jobs tab. From here the trade schedules and does the work — you pick it back up at Track & approve work.
